Description

This course is focused on training in the development of evidence-based alcohol and drug prevention strategies to

  • increase the effectiveness of preventive interventions,
  • teach key theoretical and practical concepts for the exercise of their technical role in the prevention of consumption, and
  • how to proceed with the design, implementation and evaluation of effective and quality preventive interventions.

Adressed to

The course, which lasts six months, is aimed for professionals from Latin America and the Caribbean, with technical responsibilities in decision-making in areas relating to policies and programmes for the prevention drug use and its associated problems, at the national, regional, or local level.

Objectives

By the end of the course, the particiating professionals will have received the necessary theoretical and practical training to update and optimise their knowledge on:

  • Evidence-based preventive strategies for alcohol and other drugs, with the aim of increasing the levels of effectiveness of preventive interventions;
  • Key theoretical and practical concepts for the exercise of their technical function in the prevention of the use of alcohol and other drugs;
  • Design, implementation and evaluation of quality and effective preventive interventions;
  • Adequate strategies to contribute to the reinforcement of working and technical exchange networks in the area of alcohol and drug prevention, among participating countries.

2.5 - Expand the sustainable capacity-building approach initiated in C1, by broadening its coverage, as well as the number of subjects addressed.

Indicators

Expanded the sustainable capacity building approach initiated in COPOLAD I, by: a) reviewed and up-dated 2 courses developed in COPOLAD I; b) developed 2 new on-line courses; c) enlarged coverage, at least by 50% (from baseline situation achieved in COPOLAD I), through the implementation of both, international and national editions of each course
