COPOLAD has been invited to present its strategy of institutional strengthening to the CELAC countries in the area of drug demand reduction (RDD) in the framework of the XVII Meeting of the group of experts on demand reduction organized by the Commission Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission of the Organization of American States (CICAD-OAS), which will take place on March 7 and 8, 2017 in Miami, US.
As part of the panel, "Quality Standards for RDD Programs", Eulalia Alemany, Quality and Evidence Coordinator of COPOLAD, will present the activities related to the validation of quality and evidence criteria (basic and advanced) that were agreed upon by all Participating countries during the first phase of the Program. These criteria cover both those related to prevention and risk reduction programs, as well as those for treatment and harm reduction. Validation is an essential step in the adoption of the criteria as part of the public policies of the participating countries, with the ultimate goal of creating the institutional framework necessary to ensure the implementation of quality and evidence-based RDD strategies and programs.
The objective of the meeting is to provide a space for reflection on the review and analysis of public health policy development with an emphasis on demand reduction and addressing the training strategy for health professionals in the national health systems in the hemisphere.
0.3 - Ensure visibility of COPOLAD and its activities and disseminate the contents in the main political and professional forums in the field of drug policies to be held both internationally and in CELAC.
4.6 - Contribute to increase the visibility of the works and efforts achieved in the framework of the EU-CELAC Mechanism.
