SPSI-R evaluates the way of facing the problems through two dimensions, these are, Orientation towards the problems (positive and negative) and Styles of Solution of Problems (rational style, impulsive and avoidant). To do this, a total of 52 items are used on a Likert scale with five response options.
The analyzes of the original study indicate the following levels of internal consistency and test-retest reliability:
Internal consistency: .92-.94 (total and scales) and .65-.90 (subscales). Test-retest reliability: .83-.88 (total and scales) and .73-.86 (subscales)
Convergent Validity: Correlates with other measures of evaluation of problem solving, as well as, other constructs related to clinical symptoms, hopelessness or risk of suicide
Through the summation associated with the scores of the response scale, an evaluative measure of the dimensions is obtained
