Description

Abstract

IS is an instrument for the measurement of impulsivity as a personality trait involved in risk behaviors (eg drug use). For this, in this short version 15 items are used, graduated on a Likert scale. At the same time, other versions are available that replicate the reliability indexes for its cross-cultural application

Psychometric characteristics

In its original version, the Cronbach alpha reliability coefficient was .73, obtaining similar values in the validation studies (.70). With respect to validity, the dimensions of the factorial structure explain a high percentage of total variance

No. of items
It consists of 15 abbreviated items that are rated on a Likert scale of four alternative answers that range from 'never' (0) to 'almost always' (3)
Duration
5 min
Way of administration
  • Individual and collective
  • Paper
Way of qualification

A minimum score of 0 and a maximum score of 45 can be obtained, where the subject is considered impulsive after obtaining 20 points.

Application context
Clinic / School
Population
Adolescents
