Alcohol dependence syndrome
15-item scale designed to measure dependence in adults who abuse alcohol. Its greatest strength is that it reflects all dimensions of the Alcohol Dependence Syndrome. This scale is likely to be sensitive to detect changes in dependency, but more studies are needed. The items are answered in a four-point scale (never, sometimes, often and always) rated from 0 to 3, respectively.
Reliability by division of halves = 0.87 concurrent validity with various measures of moderate to high (0.49 to 0.83)
Self-administered
Questionnaire scores are interpreted as follows: 1 to 9 points indicates low dependence, from 10 to 19 points indicates moderate or medium dependence, and the sum of 20 or more points indicates severe dependence.
