Description

Abstract

This scale consists of 25 questions covering withdrawal symptoms, alcohol-seeking behavior, difficulty controlling alcohol use and awareness of the compulsion to drink. This scale is widely used as a clinical tool and research and various studies support its reliability and validity. Although in the printed instructions reference is made to the last 12 months, the intervals may vary, for example, 6, 12 or 24 months depending on the time chosen to follow up on the treatment.
