Cruz, A., & Barbosa, F. (2012). BIS: Escala de Impulsividade de Barratt. Unpublished instrument.
BIS assesses impulsivity as a personality trait, taking into account its multifactorial character, using a total of 30 items distributed in three factors, namely, impulsive, motor and unplanned impulsivity. It is an effective instrument for the evaluation of the general and clinical population
The main components of the analysis of the items identified six primary factors and three second order factors. The latter were categorized as attentional, motor and unplanned impulsivity, being theoretically consistent with the postulates proposed by Barrat (1985). No cognitive component for impulsivity was found. However, through the results of the total scores it is inferred that it is an instrument with internal consistency for the evaluation of impulsivity, especially in clinical samples.
After the sum of the items, scores between 30 and 120 (minimum-maximum) are obtained, with higher scores indicating a greater tendency towards impulsivity
