Abstract

RAS evaluates through 30 items the individual behavior in the social context to assess the competencies with respect to the level of assertiveness, thus it has been postulated as an effective instrument for measuring changes after clinical training

Psychometric characteristics

Test-retest reliability: Moderate / high r = .78 (p <.01)

Validity over the valuation exercised in the others = .33 <r's <.62 (p <.01) and specific behavior in assertive situations = r = .70 (p <.01)

Item analysis: 27 of 30 items correlate significantly with the total score of the scale

Way of qualification

The total score is obtained with the sum of the numerical codes of each item, changing the sign of the items marked with an asterisk. The scores are oscillating between -90 and 90. A higher score indicates a higher level of assertiveness
