Description

Abstract

SSS evaluates the sensational search feature understood as the need to experience new sensations and adventures, as well as the immediate reward and desire to be exposed through a total of 40 items of dichotomous response

Psychometric characteristics

Reliability:

Total scale: best alpha coefficient.

Four subscales: BEM, DES, BEX and SAB ordered from highest to lowest reliability. Although the reliability of the EBS decreases slightly with time (coefficients between .70 and .87 in the subscales and superiors to .87 in the total scale)

Validity:

The SAB subscale correlates weakly with the BEM (males) and the BEX (females) and does not represent correlation with the BEX (males) nor with the BEM (females). The SAB subscale shows slight-null correlations with other subscales of other studies

No. of items
The questionnaire consists of 40 items that are answered in a forced choice scale: dichotomous yes / no
Duration
10-20 min
Way of administration
  • Individual and collective
  • Paper
Way of qualification

The items are grouped into four scales of 10 items. For the correction, each affirmative answer is rated as a 1 and negatives as 0. Thus, a total score is obtained from the sum of the scores and a value for each scale.
