La SENAD es una Secretaría dependiente de la Presidencia de la República, cuya misión es ejecutar y hacer ejecutar la política del gobierno nacional en la lucha contra la producción y el trafico ilícito de las sustancias estupefacientes y demás drogas peligrosas, la prevención del uso, abuso y dependencia de drogas, el tratamiento y reinserción social de drogodependientes y el control del lavado de activos provenientes del trafico ilícito de estupefacientes y psicotrópicos.

Reducir la demanda de drogas, con la implementación de programas de prevención, tratamiento, reinserción social e intervenciones en drogodependencias y en otras conductas que conllevan riesgo para la salud, con base en evidencias científicas, fortaleciendo la capacitación especializada y la evaluación de resultados e impacto.
