Los grupos GIA nacen en Mendoza a fines de los 80, el marco teórico que se usa es el del marco operativo de la psicología social, el encuadre espacial es institucional, se trata de grupos abiertos y con procesos, a partir de las experiencias de vida desarrollar estrategias para combatir las adicciones Reuniones de una hora semanales o dos horas semanales

Description of the main activities
Cuando se reabrió el centro en el 2000, las primeras actividades fueron acoger, ir a buscar a la gente que sabiamos que tenian problemas con el alcohol, se hizo un trabajo de calle para comenzar a tratarlo. Luego se comenzo a acentar cuantos de los problemas de salud que se trataban en el hospital eran derivados de la adiccion. se comenzo un trabajo con las familias y la comunidad para limitar la disponibilidad de alcohol y no naturalizar el alto indice de consumo
