COPOLAD II, a program led by Spain, trains experts from Latin America and the Caribbean in an innovative tool to support the planning of drug demand reduction programs. Argentina hosts representatives from nine Andean and Southern Cone countries in the first edition of this series of planning workshops using the online application "Step@atTime", which opens new possibilities for developing more effective drug demand reduction programs based on scientific evidence.

The 4th Forum for Intra-regional Dialogue on Alternative Development of COPOLAD brings together 16 Latin American and Caribbean countries in Guatemala. The importance of the integration of the gender perspective in the Alternative Development of public policies and its potential impact on women is the central topic of this meeting. The Forum presents a study, carried out within the framework of COPOLAD, which analyzes the institutional capacities necessary for the implementation of Alternative Development in countries interested in incorporating this line of action as part of their drug policies.

Money Laundering and Asset Recovery, central topics of the EU-CELAC Bi-regional Meeting for the exchange of best practices, organised by COPOLAD. Meeting organised by FIIAPP under the leadership of the CITCO (Spanish Ministry of the Interior) and the collaboration of the DGPNSD (Ministry of Health, Consumer Affairs and Social Welfare), gathers around one hundred representatives from 35 countries and key multilateral institutions in Madrid.

For one week, 28 countries from Latin America and the Caribbean will present their national drug reports, key instruments for defining effective drug policies to confront emerging problems. The establishment of Early Warning Systems in 10 countries, a milestone in the region. The development of National Drug Observatories is key to the formulation of evidence-based policies in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The side event sponsored by Spain is part of the 62nd Session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (March 14-22, 2019).  Three CELAC countries stress the importance of inter-agency collaboration to progress on activities promoted within the framework of COPOLAD, which involve key developments in their drugs policies. The drug precursors control, the alternative development and evidence-based policies are the central topics of the progress presented in this side event.

15 Latin American countries are in Santiago to present the results of how, within the framework of COPOLAD, they are moving towards the incorporation of quality and evidence criteria in this field. PAHO / WHO, CICAD-OAS and RIOD, actively participate in this process since its inception.

COPOLAD brings together 36 countries of the EU and CELAC in Portugal. The New Psychoactive Substances, the central topic of this third edition.

Projects working on Universal care services tailored to problematic drug users met in Washington for further synergies related to the implementation of quality standards & evidence-based criteria as part of Public Health & Human Rights public policies.

COPOLAD celebrates its 3^rd Annual Conference, which this year is dedicated to encouraging the incorporation of the gender approach and women's empowerment in a cross-cutting manner. In this third annual edition, COPOLAD is bringing together in this conference 57 delegations, 33 from Latin America and the Caribbean. 12 Countries of the European Union, together with 10 international organizations, Including UN Women and UNODC, are joining the dialogue with the CELAC countries on this top-priority issue for the European Union within the framework of the 2030 Global Agenda for Sustainable Development.
