This course is entirely funded by the European Commission, within the framework of the Cooperation Programme between Latin America, the Caribbean and the European Union on Drugs Policies (COPOLAD).

Description: This course is focused on training in the development of evidence-based alcohol and drug prevention strategies to

  • increase the effectiveness of preventive interventions,
  • teach key theoretical and practical concepts for the exercise of their technical role in the prevention of consumption, and
  • how to proceed with the design, implementation and evaluation of effective and quality preventive interventions.

Adressed to: Professionals from the public sector with technical responsibilities in decision-making in the field of drug prevention policies and programs, at the national, regional or local level.

Associated operational objectives

0.2 - Have adequate baseline information to: provide specificity to the contents and the actions planned in each component; meet initial expectations of each partner in relation to its participation in COPOLAD; and facilitate the programme evaluation.
0.3 - Ensure visibility of COPOLAD and its activities and disseminate the contents in the main political and professional forums in the field of drug policies to be held both internationally and in CELAC.
2.5 - Expand the sustainable capacity-building approach initiated in C1, by broadening its coverage, as well as the number of subjects addressed.
2.6 - Maintain a project-supported initiative, which ensures the availability of planning and evaluation tools, in a way that becomes self-sustaining beyond the duration of the programme.

Indicators

Expanded the sustainable capacity building approach initiated in COPOLAD I, by: a) reviewed and up-dated 2 courses developed in COPOLAD I; b) developed 2 new on-line courses; c) enlarged coverage, at least by 50% (from baseline situation achieved in COPOLAD I), through the implementation of both, international and national editions of each course
