Description

Abstract

PACS allows to evaluate the communicative style by dyads between parents and children through 20 items independently referred to each one (mother / father) on a Likert scale by means of two factors: degree of openness and communication problems

Psychometric characteristics

The internal consistency indices for Degree of openness and Communication problems show values of .87 and .78 respectively, although in another study it has been structured by three factors: Openness to communication, Offensive family communication and Avoidance family communication (Estévez, Musitu, & Herrero, 2005) in the Spanish population

No. of items
It consists of 20 items (father / mother in a differentiated way) that are answered on a Likert scale with five answer options ranging from 'totally agree' to 'totally disagree'
Duration
10 min
Way of administration
  • Individual and collective
  • Paper
Way of qualification

The items are the same for each member of the family, with the only exception in the form of enunciation. The results are obtained through the summation of the scores associated with the response forms, reflecting the communicative style referred to the father / mother

Application context
Clinic
Population
