Description

Abstract

The purpose of this instrument is to analyze the perceptions of parents and children about the communication they maintain. For this, it has three versions aimed at the evaluation of parents and children of different ages

Psychometric characteristics

Test-retest reliability shows temporal stability, as well as, most internal consistency values are above .60 and .80 (in all three versions of the scale). Also, the levels of internal consistency proved satisfactory for research and clinical practice

No. of items
COMPA-P consists of 71 items, COMPA-A 65 items and COMPA-C 39 items that are answered on a Likert scale with five response options ranging from 'never' (1) to 'always' (5)
Duration
12 - 16 años/years 15 -20 min / 7 - 11 años/years 30 - 40 min
Way of administration
  • Individual and collective
  • Paper
Way of qualification

To make the correction of the results by subscale of the three versions, the items are added and divided by the total number of items on the scale. The higher the score on each subscale, the better the perception of parento-filial communication. However, the fifth dimension of the COMPA-A is composed of negative elements and, therefore, high results in this subscale reveal a negative perception about parento-filial communication

Application context
Clinic / School
Population
Parents (adults) and children (children and adolescents)
