CBI is an instrument for assessing the clinical status and progress of the dependent subject, specifically identifying the frequency of the use of coping skills for abstinence in situations of risk. To do this, a total of 36 items are available on a Likert-type scale where positive and negative thinking, distraction-avoidance and search for social support are evaluated.
Reliability:
Internal consistency: Cronbach's α = 0.90
Validity:
The factorial analysis explains 44.39% of the variance, being coincident with other previous studies in non-Spanish samples.
It presents a high reliability and construct validity so its use is recommended in the clinical evaluation
The response forms are categorized as 'normally', 'often', 'sometime' and 'never', being able to obtain a minimum score of 0 and a maximum score of 108.
