The EU-CELAC Coordination and Cooperation Mechanism on Drugs represents the framework for the bi-regional cooperation against the world drug problem. The general objective is to promote and further strengthen the political dialogue, the coordination and the cooperation between both regions, based on the principle of shared responsibility.
Other specific objectives are: development in the regions of policies and institution building at the national level to enable States to improve their ability to cope with drugs-related problems; improvement of the information systems between both regions via jointly agreed programmes and measures.
