This Forum promotes a decentralized dialogue among key actors in the field of Alternative Development in order to facilitate participants to get the way forward according to the conclusions obtained in the UNGASS and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in this field.

The 1st COPOLAD II Annual Meeting of National Drugs Observatories (NDO) congregates in its first edition, 71 high-level representatives from 13 countries of the Caribbean region, 18 from Latin America, and 6 from the European Union (EU), which entails an unprecedented attendance success in the region.

COPOLAD holds its 1st Annual Week on Precursors, from 7th to the 11th of November, 2016 in Barcelona (Spain), focused on the “Voluntary agreements between chemical and pharmaceutical industries and the national authorities in charge of trade of precursors and chemical products”.

Sixty-six participants attend this meeting, representing Argentina, Bahamas, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, France, Germany, Guatemala, Honduras, Italy, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Rumania, Slovak Republic, Spain, The Netherlands, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay and Venezuela, besides the The Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (CICAD/OAS), The European Commission (DEVCO, TAXUD and OLAF), Europol, the European External Action Service (EEAS) and the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA), as well as representatives from the private sector form Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Guatemala, France, Mexico, Portugal, Spain and The Netherlands. 

The European Commission and the Spanish Government have presented COPOLAD II to the 60th Regular Session of the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (CICAD) of the Secretariat for Multidimensional Security of the Organization of American States (OAS) , which was held in Nassau (Bahamas).

Presentation of COPOLAD II to the EMCDDA Staff. We make this presentation on request of the Director of EMCDDA, so that all the professionals of the scientific field of its Agency, can cooperate in COPOLAD. During the session there are 47 professionals from the Agency: all the Department Heads and the rest the scientific staff of the EMCDDA. An interesting exchange of information and answers to specific questions of different departments takes place After the presentation. Those who participated in the first phase of COPOLAD, show their satisfaction with the orientation of the program and reiterate their willingness to participate in this second phase.
